Part 3: Short Essay
The following example received full credit for the part 3 exam question, which by the way is very unusual. The essay is characterized by concision, focus, and specificity--an unusual but highly laudable combination. Especially interesting is how well the essay engages with a host of ideas pertinent to the novel and its times: gender, desire, female ambition, domesticity, conformity, revolution, and so forth.Exemplary Part 3 Response
